Safiya Sinclair is the author of the award-winning poetry collection Cannibal. She is the recipient of a Whiting Writers’ Award; the Metcalf Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters; the Phillis Wheatley Book Award; the Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Poetry; and Cannibal was a finalist for the PEN Center USA Literary Award. Cannibal was one of The New Yorker’s “Books We Loved in 2016,” and Publishers Weekly’s 2016 “Poetry Top 10.” Poet Major Jackson said of her collection, “Cannibal is nothing less than an entrancing debut that reveals the teeming intellect and ravishing lucidity of a young poet in full possession of her literary powers.” Sinclair is now featured in NBC Universal Entertainment’s new “Create Space” series. Her memoir, How to Say Babylon, is forthcoming from Simon and Schuster.
