Nancy Jo Sales is an award-winning journalist, bestselling author and filmmaker who has written for Vanity Fair, New York, Harper's Bazaar, and many other national publications. Sales directed, wrote and produced the documentary film Swiped: Hooking Up in the Digital Age, which debuted on HBO on September 10, 2018. Her 2016 book American Girls: Social Media and the Secret Lives of Teenagers was a New York Times Bestseller. She is also the author of the national bestseller The Bling Ring (2013), which inspired Sofia Coppola's eponymous film of that same year. In 2000, she became a contributing editor at Vanity Fair. She lives in the East Village in New York City.
