Julia Ridley Smith has won fellowships and residencies from the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, the Millay Colony, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, among others. Julia’s nonfiction has appeared in Ecotone and the New England Review, and been recognized as notable by The Best American Essays. Her fiction has been published in Electric Literature, The Southern Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, and elsewhere. The recipient of an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College, she currently teaches at UNC Greensboro. Her memoir in essays, The Sum of Trifles, is forthcoming from the University of Georgia Press’s CRUX: The Georgia Series in Literary Nonfiction.
